Autistic people have differences in the way they interact, communicate and experience the world around them.
It is estimated that at least one in every 100 people in the UK is autistic. Traditionally more boys have been diagnosed with autism that girls, however with our understanding of the differences of how autism presents in girls, there are now increased number of girls being diagnosed.
Autism is a lifelong developmental difference causing strengths and difficulties, what is important is adjustments to the environment to make life as comfortable as possible.
